Authentic or Pretentious?

People who are non-pretentious people will admit their own flaws and mistakes, even confess their sins. They apologize when they have failed at keeping a promise and seek to make it right.
Matthew 5:23-24
"So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift."
A pretentious person who is deeply invested in outer appearances more than the truth will never admit to anything while they boast of things about themselves that are not true, usually through half-truths slathered in self-compliments.
These types of people make exaggerated promises knowing that you look foolish if you hold them to what they said often denying that they ever said it.
Narcissists are hyper-sensitive to correction or exposure of something they said or did but have no problem pointing out someone else's flaw. Often the narcissist will be petty, pointing out flaws that are not flaws hoping that the one they assault will feel shame over something that does not warrant shame.
The devil is busy every day attacking believers through the antics and influence of narcissists. The narcissists influence others to dislike the believer as they also work on the believer to feel unwarranted shame.
A young man many years ago accused me of having influence over my own daughter who was living in my home, as though I should not be influencing my daughter. My response was to laugh at such a silly statement. My reply was simply: "I am supposed to influence my daughter that's why they call me a mother."
In fact, I made it clear that a mother is called by God to teach her children. If the children resist until adulthood that is on the child not the mother. 2 Timothy 3 is clearly in play now as we watch the entire culture angry at mothers who attempt to teach their children from the Bible. Psychology has infiltrated the church and has ruined mothers to believe they are being too harsh when they follow the scriptures in their training of the children.
Since the man involved in this foolish encounter was trained by a world that did not believe God and His Word.,Hh spouted from his mouth the things that the devil told him to say thinking it was his own idea.
It is not possible to have a reasonable rational discussion with someone who claims to be a Christian but denies Christ in their actions while lacking the Holy Spirit as well as the desire to know the truth from God.
1 John 2:3-5 "And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him:"
Matthew 7:21-23
"“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’"
Mark 7:9
"And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!"
We live in a post-Christian world now in which the tenets of Christianity and the principles of Christ are treated with contempt even by those who say they are Christians.
Few are left who believe God! We know they believe God because they love to obey His Word. And, they love to speak of Him and His principles.
Only those who have contempt for God's Word would rage at a believer for speaking the truth to point them to Christ.
Galatians 1:6-9
"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed."
The gospel of Christ is not just the salvation message of Jesus Christ, it is the very essence of Who He is contained in all His commandments. Not one commandment will be eliminated to fit into a culture.
Those who pick and choose what they like and throw away what they don't like in the form of attempting to explain it away with psychological teachings are in deep trouble for their rebellion.
Deuteronomy 4:2
"You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you."
Proverbs 30:6
"Do not add to His words
Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar."
Proverbs 30:5-6
"Every word of God is tested;
He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.
Do not add to His words
Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar."
Whoever ignores God's word to live as they please is in danger of hell fire. Everyone who adds extra ideas that God never said are also in danger of hell fire.
