Those who love sin and foolishness will always be liked by the world.
When is the last time a student or employee said, I liked my teacher/boss because they demanded hard work out of me?
Our culture is an entertainment crazed culture, that only loves those who make them feel like they are having fun, no matter how immoral or worthless it might be.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 "For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either."
Proverbs 14:23
"23 In all labor there is profit, But mere talk leads only to poverty."
Proverbs 10:4
"4 Poor is he who works with a negligent hand, But the hand of the diligent makes rich."
Proverbs 21:25
"25 The desire of the sluggard puts him to death, For his hands refuse to work;"
Colossians 3:23
"23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,"
1 Timothy 5:8
"8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."
Psalm 128:2
"2 When you shall eat of the [a]fruit of your hands, You will be happy and it will be well with you."
Proverbs 3:5-6
"5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight."
If we take seriously what God has told us, we will resolve to be diligent in all our dealings and He will bless our walk. We may not be rich, but we will have integrity, enough money and our needs met. Notice I said "needs", not necessarily wants.
Our work will satisfy us, the more we practice this, the less we desire play, accomplishment is much more satisfying than fruitless entertainment.
