Our Companions Matter

To "hang out" with fearful people will only diminish our walk with Christ.

Those who are not fervent toward our Lord will only attempt to hold us back, through dismissiveness, boredom and intimidation, in order to shape us to become like them. The pressure of these people comes in many forms, from low grunting and mocking facial expressions to out and out verbal disparagement.

These people will attempt to demean our courage, showing contempt for us when we are led to be bold.

Fearful people diminish the courage of brave people.

We are fragile in our walk, when we look to people for acceptance, we cannot be bold for Christ, the minimizers know this.

Our mission is to stop looking to people for acceptance while looking to Christ for strength to be what pleases Him.

Galatians 1:10 "10 Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ."

We are commanded by God to walk with those who are powered by Christ. We are weak in the flesh, we need the encouragement of godly people or sometimes to walk alone with Christ in a time when it is difficult to find others who agree with us in our own communities.

Those who are not concerned about becoming companions of those who love Christ, most likely enjoy those who do not love Him. Perhaps they have an idol, "acceptance of men" or even are more comfortable with sin than righteousness.

It is foolishness to walk with ungodly mockers who serve only to deplete our courage and resolve to obey Christ. For me it is better to be alone with Christ than surrounded by those who despise His ways.

Proverbs 13:20 "20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm."
