Self is the Addiction of the Narcissist

"Self" is the addiction for the narcissist, never expect an apology for anything ever. Kind and empathetic people apologize for slights because they hate hurting others. The narcissist doesn't care if they hurt others, only that they get their own way or feel a sense of superiority over others.

Even though the narcissist deludes themselves as being giving and caring their actions and attitudes demonstrate something very different.

Proverbs 1:7
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction."

Proverbs 29:9
"If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet."

Proverbs 28:26
"Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered."

Notice that God tells us the plight of the foolish and in the same verse shows us the direction of the wise man.

It is God's mercy that He exposes sin but then give the solution to it, that solution being to trust Christ, be humbled for knowing what we are without Him and then we begin to obey Him.

Those who have no concern about pleasing the Lord but are deeply vested in impressing others will always show their true colors when adversity or challenge comes. Those who are seeking Christ will demonstrate an attitude of wanting to learn truth even if it exposes something within themselves.

Those who seek Christ, willing to look at themselves in truth will always grow in holiness. God will honor our desire to please Him.

Ecclesiastes 7:1-29
"A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of birth. It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for this is the end of all mankind, and the living will lay it to heart. Sorrow is better than laughter, for by sadness of face the heart is made glad. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth. It is better for a man to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools. ..."

The humble man who sees himself in truth will gain great wisdom and joy as they move through life free from the burden of having to hide their real selves. Those who are hiding are burdened with guilt and shame continually, keeping up pretense is very hard work and never rewarding.

1 Corinthians 2:13
"And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual."
