Our Company Influences Us

1 Corinthians 15:33 " 33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character.”"

Even though Lot was considered by God a righteous man, he sinned greatly even after he was delivered from those cities. He had been around those wicked people so long, he was affected by their ways.

When we are in the company of rebellious people a lot, we begin to think like they do. Believers who are self righteous, loving their pleasure and personal glory will be drawn into flattery and the desire to be accepted by worldly people.

They will measure their righteousness by how many people accept and like them rather than by the standards of the Holy Scriptures and Christ Himself.

When these worldly Christians have been accepted and loved by the ungodly, they will begin to grow in pride, thinking they are loved because they are so wonderful themselves. This pride leads to the judging of others who are not accepted because of their devotion to Christ and His Word.

The worldly believers pretend that those who love Christ and stand firm, are doing something wrong, they call them judgmental, mean spirited because they do not accept sin in the lives of believers.

Those who love to be loved by man, judge the truth tellers as though they are doing something wrong by standing for God's principles.

We can expect this nearly every where we go now, even in church. The pride that comes from "self righteousness", permeates nearly everyone now, with the exception of a few compared to the whole.

2 Timothy 3 describes the end times, the mentality and the tactics of those who have chosen self exaltation rather than the righteousness of Christ as their standard.

Do not be discouraged, it is the way of it in these last days of apostasy, we are called to live above it, seeking Christ for everything all the time, leaving those who reject His principles to Christ to deal with.
