If our walk with Christ is dependent on the "type of church" we are attending then that church will be our evaluation of what God wants.
Sadly most people are following leaders and churches or people in those churches instead of Christ.
When we walk with Christ we can do that anywhere when He is our focus and not leaders or attendees.
We are not mandated by God to do things the way of our gathering or leaders. We are told to follow Christ and Him alone.
Our leaders can be helpful and we should listen to them when they are biblical but correct them when they are wrong.
If we find ourselves unable to correct or chastise a fellow believer then we have idols in our lives and must return to following Christ.
Matthew 16:24
"Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."
1 Corinthians 11:1-2
"Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you."
See that? We are to be imitators of Christ not of the leaders or others.
