Next time someone sinning uses the excuse that "God knows my heart."
A good response might be, "yes he knows you are not interested in Him, that you would not care whether or not you obey Him.
God does know the heart of the one who cares nothing about Him or obeying His principles. He knows they do not love Him.
As a mother I can identify a little with how God feels when His children want all He has to offer but care nothing about Him.
When children reluctantly obey, rolling eyes and deliberately doing covert things like throwing their coat in the room instead of hanging it on a hook as they were told to do, then we are dealing with a heart that partially obeys to say they did, but whose attitude is in opposition to the authority over them.
This is what we see all the time in churches. Most believers do not seek God for answers, they don't really want to know how or what God thinks. They just want Him to be available when they have a need or desire.
This mentality is wicked and selfish, and yet believers think as long as they just "say", "I love the Lord", that makes it so. If these people ever got into a court of law to prove they were Christian there would be no evidence.
Saying something is nothing,be it, doing it and being dedicated to it is everything. Perhaps those who say "God knows my heart" ought to stop saying it and begin to live it.
