What many unbelievers don't realize is that the life of obedience is a life of pure joy. The life of disobedience is filled with superficial happiness based only on each thing the unbeliever does that pleases them.
When an unbeliever is not being pleased they are unhappy. There is no depth of joy that remains through all circumstances even through trials.
The born again believer has joy no matter what is happening to them. There is expectation that all that happens to us adds to our learning and growth, we love this spiritual blessing of wisdom that comes with enduring through our lessons.
James 1:2-8
"2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."
It is my belief that all the lessons born again believers learn now will serve us in the Millennium when we shall rule with Christ. The experiences of this world are not for nothing. They have purpose that will last for eternity.
Psalm 37:30 "30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak what is just."
Proverbs 4:6-7 "6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. 7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding."
It doesn't make sense that we would be on this earth for 70 or 80 years to learn great wisdom only to have it die with our fleshly bodies. But that's just me and how I think.
Job 12:12
"12 “Wisdom is with aged men,
With long life is understanding."
