Christ Works in His Children

When we become born again Christ sends His Spirit to come and dwell in us. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise a guarantee of our inheritance. We are not saved by good works we are saved to do good works.

No one will keep salvation by being good. However we will be growing in Holiness as the Lord works His work in us.

We are born again by believing on Christ and His payment for our sin. Then He begins His work in us to become more holy, its an ongoing process until we die and go home to Him.

God's children do sin and when they do He disciplines them to bring us back to obedience.

1 John 3:9-10 "9 Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10 By this the children of God are distinguished from the children of the devil: Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is anyone who does not love his brother.…"

Ephesians 2:10
"10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."

Hebrews 12:5-7 "…5 And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you. 6 For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastises everyone He receives as a son.” 7 Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?…"

Born again believers are not sinless, they just sin less because they should be growing in holiness. However, there are those who will barely make it into heaven with no rewards because they trusted Christ but they did not obey Him.

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 "…14 If what he has built survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself will be saved, but only as if through the flames. 16 Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?…"

Anyone who thinks they are saved keeping their own salvation by their own works is not trusting in Christ, they are trusting in their own good deeds. Often these people are "self righteous" making extra rules God never commanded to feel more spiritual. This is why I challenge everyone including myself to evaluate every idea of obedience we have to see if its commanded in the Word or if its just an attempt to appear more holy while not commanded by God.

Ephesians 2:8-10 "…8 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life."
