We are Strangers in a Foreign Land

A Professor at DTS said this:

"Those of us who will follow Christ and His word, as opposed to the rising emphasis upon religious experience, will increasingly become a smaller group until one day we will be on the outside of the American Evangelical church looking in."

Does anyone else feel this way? I sure do, so many people are focused on politics, pleasure, happiness, and fun there doesn't seem to be any room for learning the heart of God.

The American Christian culture is against all the right things that God is against, but they have lost their first love.

Revelation 3:14-22 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Message to Laodicea
14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the [a]Beginning of the creation of God, says this:

Church at Ephesus
Revelation 2:2-7 "2 ‘I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false;
3 and you have perseverance and have endured for My name’s sake, and have not grown weary.
4 But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
5 Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent.

Church at Laodicea
Revelation 3:15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.
16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.
17 Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,
18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.
19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
21 He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

It is possible for a church to be against and for all the right things according to God's word but have lost their first love, which is a focus on Jesus Christ entirely.

Even unsaved conservatives are against the same things we are against and for the same things we are for but they aren't saved, they do not recognize Jesus Christ as their Savior. Often you will hear them say they believe in God but they do not care about obeying Him. They just happen to be conservative in the way they think, the old fashioned morality based on good works.

Galatians 2:15-16 "…15 We who are Jews by birth and not Gentile ‘sinners’ 16 know that a man is not justified by works of the Law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the Law, because by works of the Law no one will be justified. "

Galatians 3:24
"So the Law became our guardian to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith."
