The Steadiness of the Believer

If you find yourself continually being drawn back into sin after you confessed Christianity, then you may not have been born again. One of the first things that happen to a born again believer is their hatred of sin that they used to love.
Romans 12:9
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.
Jude 1:23
Save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.
1 John 4:8
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Psalm 5:4
For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.
The spirit of the natural man without Christ still loves their sin. The man who has been changed into a new creation by Christ hates sin. The Holy Spirit stirs within a born again believer when they come close to sin. If they fall into it they are tormented until they confess it to be cleansed. A pretender who wants to consider themselves Christian do not hate sin, they remain in it and even defend it.
The born again believer does not walk in a lifestyle of sinfulness. They have been cleansed and continue to be cleansed when they fall. They are growing in holiness more each time they confess to be cleansed.
2 Corinthians 5:16-18 "…16 So from now on we regard no one according to the flesh. Although we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:…"
