When Peter Began to Fall into the Water

When did Peter begin to fall into the water when Christ gave him the ability to walk on top of it? When he took his eyes off of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 14:28-33
"28 Peter responded and said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.
30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and when he began to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out with His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped.
33 And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are truly God’s Son!”"
It was when Peter focused on the storm, taking his eyes of of Jesus Christ that he began to fall.
This is a picture of what we are seeing happen to Christians today as they focus on the world and all of its problems that they begin to sink into despair and sadness. Their joy has left them, as they keep their eyes on the world around them rather than on Christ and His mission for them on earth.
Many are losing sight of our calling while we are on this earth. It is not to save a country or make the world a better place. Our mission is to bring Christ to the lost and encourage the brethren to keep looking up, eyes transfixed on Christ.
Matthew 6:22
“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,"
Isaiah 26:3
"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."
Psalm 101:3
"I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me."
Proverbs 3:5
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."
We cannot impart hope to a lost world when we are in despair about the world around us. We cannot bring comfort to those who are hopeless when we are wallowing in the filth of this world.
2 Corinthians 4:18
"As we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."
1 John 2:16
"For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world."
Psalm 16:8
"I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken."
Colossians 3:1
"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God."
Luke 11:33-36
“No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.”
Proverbs 21:2
"Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart."
Proverbs 4:25
"Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you."
Psalm 51:10
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."
A clean heart comes from reading His Word and praying for change in us. We cannot have a clean heart when we are resisting His principles.
