We are approaching a time when we will be switching out the leaders of this country and many people are excited about that no matter which side of the aisle they land.
The problem with placing our trust in a man who will get us some things we want is that the more comfortable this nation becomes the less they are going to turn to Christ.
Our nation has proven this time and time again as the people seek their freedom and prosperity they forget God and glory in pride for their achievements. They throw God a bone once in awhile by using His name in a prayer while they are living a prideful self-righteous existence completely dedicated to their own exaltation.
When we are born again we want people to become saved from their sin and hell, to be changed into a new creation by Christ while loving His principles and commands.
There is a more superficial, self-righteous form of Christianity in play now than there are authentic believers who search the Word of God for His heart with the intention of obeying what He says.
My question is this; how can someone say they follow Christ when they ignore more of His Word than they obey? They believe false preachers who lead them into a lulled state of complacency rather than preaching hard things that bring the congregations to tears over their sin.
Matthew 7:21-23 is the mentality now, many people claim to be Christian while never speaking the name of Jesus Christ openly but will readily promote a particular political leader.
Matthew 7:21-23 "21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’"
God told us not to place our trust in politics!
Psalm 146:2-4 "…2I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. 3 Put not your trust in princes, in mortal man, who cannot save. 4 When his spirit departs, he returns to the ground; on that very day his plans perish.…"
Perhaps the best thing for this country is to see hardship and pain in order for the people to see their need for Christ.
There is a pseudo-Christianity occurring all over this country espousing "conservative" principles while ignoring Christ except when it is convenient or when they are in trouble.
Psalm 118:9
"It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes."
There have been times when I was tempted to jump on a political bandwagon. Still, God prevented me by showing me all the verbiage we hear is manipulation to deter us from God's Word rather than encourage us to repent from our self-exalted stance in repentance.
Jeremiah 17:5
This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind, who makes the flesh his strength and turns his heart from the LORD."
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
"And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one."
When we depend on a government or any government official we are not depending on the Holy Spirit.
Philippians 3:20
"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,"
My hope is in nothing on this earth, nor is it in any man, it is in Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. No one will take priority over Him.
