Men seem to always want to depend on themselves to make things happen the way that seems right to them.
Proverbs 14:12 "12 There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death."
It is the heart of mankind to think they must figure out every minor detail to get things right. When we walk by faith in Christ, it is not merely something we say; it is something we trust in that is the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not a concept; He is a person, and He leads us in all things. We need no scripted material in our gatherings to edify one another. Can a man script something better than the Holy Spirit? NO!
John 16:13 "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come."
The same principle that applied to the apostles when they would be handed over to the authorities also applies to the gathering of believers. Trusting in Christ is not an idea in our heads, it is how we live our lives.
Matthew 10:19-20 "19 But when they hand you over, do not worry about how to respond or what to say. In that hour, you will be given what to say. 20 For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you."
No one can bring about order and truth better than the Holy Spirit. The key is how much faith the believers have to trust in Him for all things.
Mankind continually reverts to its own devices while claiming its plans are from the Holy Spirit.
The challenge for us would be to test how many times we try to figure out things on our own, compared to how many times we trust in Christ.
And, please, may no one ever use the excuse again, "God gave me a brain", which is the most foolish justification for trusting in oneself right from the devil's mouth.
My answer would be that God gave us a brain, and look what we did with it. When we wanted to trust in ourselves, mankind fell into punishment and despair for trusting in its own brain.
Those who say foolish things like, "God helps those who help themselves," do not understand that God helps those who cannot help themselves. The moment we begin to trust in our own ways and thinking is the day we fail without hope, and sadly, so badly we don't even know we have failed.
Proverbs 28:26 "Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered."
May we remember the words of God and forget the foolish words of man.
