What is the Spirit and What is the Soul?

On another thread, the question arose what is the soul and the spirit.
The soul is the personality part of our being. The spirit is the entity that lives forever and dwells in the body as long as it is on earth.

When our body dies our spirit goes to heaven or hell. Our personality remains with our spirit and is taken to whichever place we go. The body is only dust nothing else, it is the shell or casing that holds our spirit with its personality.

When someone becomes born again their spirit is replaced with the Spirit of Christ. This is why we are referred to as a "new creation" when Christ changes us into His children, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise until He takes us out of this world.

Job 32:8
But it is the spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty, that makes him understand.

Ecclesiastes
And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Romans 8:16
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

Romans 8:8-10 "Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. 9 You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.…"

The Fruit Is Obvious to Other Believers

The fruit is not works it is the character qualities of Christ that can be discerned by other believers.

Galatians 5:22-23 "22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
There are many people who say they are Christians that do not display this character. They are more focused on appearing spiritual and special than they are in their inner character.

When our character is aligned with that of Christ our attitudes, actions, and emotions will be in evident to other born again believers.

Ruling with Christ for a Thousand Years

The world lied to us many years ago in the 1970's when it said; "just follow your feelings", the truth is that following our feelings has led our country to the place it is right now.

Feelings often negate and destroy reason and good sense. When we know the Bible we do not have to lean into our feelings we can ignore them and pray for strength to obey God's principles.

John 14:21
Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him."

Hallellujah, our rewards are not here right now, they are later after we leave this life which is a training camp for when we rule in the Millennium.

Revelation 20:4-6
"4 Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years."

Freedom of Speech and the Mask

I find it interesting that in a time when freedom of speech is being removed from our country except for those who are the squeaky wheels., the violent evil ones, are speaking as loudly as they please without restraint.

We are mandated to wear something over our mouths, a sort of symbol of shutting up everyone but those who will ultimately control others. This has always been the way it is in the world, the few control the masses.

This does not frighten me because I know what comes next, that is the redemption of the born again believer from this mess.

Those who are not born again will not see the safety of the Lord. they will remain to endure far worse injustices than we have seen thus far.

I urge those who have not yet trusted in Christ to seek Him out. Confess your sinfulness and seek out the only One Who can cleanse you from your sin.

When you do this Christ will send His Holy Spirit to live in you, The Holy Spirit does all the work of cleansing as we submit to Him.

1 John 1:9 "9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

You must confess and you must want to believe in Christ to be cleansed by Him if you are to see heaven. And, NO, not everyone who dies goes to a better place, only those who are born again.

John 3:1-14 "3 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
2 this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?”
5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
8 The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
9 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can these things be?”
10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and do not understand these things?
11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you do not accept our testimony.
12 If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
13 No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man.
14 As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life."
