It is not our lack of sin that gets us into heaven. We cannot remove all the sin from our bodies. It is Christ's sacrifice and our trusting Him that motivates Him to change us into a new creation, beginning the lifelong process of cleansing. It is Christ's blood that covers our sin, we are still sinful in our flesh, but we don't have to obey the flesh when Christ lives in us, we can obey Him.
When we disobey as children of God, He takes us to the woodshed for a spanking to help us return to obedience.
Hebrews 12:6 "…5and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, "MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD, NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM; 6FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES." 7It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?…"
