Treat your friends like your best buds. If they have done well rejoice with them. If they have messed up weep and help them return to obedience. This is the nature of the deep love of God.
It is not love watching a friend fall off of a cliff without warning them. It is not love accepting sin in them merely to remain their friend, this is selfish.
When we love people we want God's best for them, even if hurting them temporarily.
Proverbs 27:5-7 "…5 Better an open rebuke than love that is concealed. 6 The wounds of a friend are faithful, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. 7 The soul that is full loathes honey, but to a hungry soul, any bitter thing is sweet.…"
A "yes person" is not a good friend! A good friend is one who speaks truth from God even if it means personal loss to them.
A good friend desires their pal to grow and become more holy. A good friends knows that only obeying God brings blessing for eternity, not just for a lifetime.
Proverbs 18:23-24 "…23 The poor man pleads for mercy, but the rich man answers harshly. 24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who stays closer than a brother."
Hallelujah!!!!
