This is the reason the narcissist is so very guarded about sharing anything about themselves. They think others will judge them the way they judge others.
When we share our deepest thoughts with narcissists, they not only judge us but are dedicated to misinterpreting what we have told them. They add to what you have said the same way many Christians add to God's word to make it seem the way they wish to believe it.
Narcissists don't judge righteously; they judge according to what they wish to believe about us, nitpicking at minor things that are not sins, and gossiping about them to others to gain allies. Satan did this with Eve in the garden. He convinced her that God did something bad by making a rule about the fruit on a tree.
This is a common experience in our day because the world has become so dark and Christless. Those who are maligned the most are those who walk in truth, following the principles of the Bible.
Most Christians today only follow parts of the Bible that they like that might elevate them, but ignore many things God said to avoid self-reflection and shame.
Matthew 10:22-23
"21 Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rise against their parents and have them put to death. 22 You will be hated by everyone because of My name, but the one who perseveres to the end will be saved. 23 When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next."
God does not tell us to remain with those who persecute us if we can get away; He tells us to flee from them. It is futile to keep saying the same things over and over again to those who have rejected what we have already said when we share the gospel. Or, in the case of church gatherings, when we speak the words of God and they are ignored or treated with contempt.
It is time now to come out from among the false church gatherings and embrace the solitude of small gatherings in homes. The culture is so entrenched in the false church system devised by men that few people can think on their own alone with Christ.
The world is now in the church, dominated by cultural Christians who are not born-again. They have embraced rituals and false doctrine that make them feel comfortable, leaving them chained to the expectations of men rather than trusting in Christ. They are in bondage to the traditions of men and think they are spiritual.
Mark 7:13 "13Thus you nullify the word of God by the tradition you have handed down. And you do so in many such matters.”
The most important thing we can do is remove ourselves from the false doctrine and meetings of those who elevate men above Christ, then is when we become free in Christ.
