God wants Christians to stop placing their trust in the people they vote for and the political system. He wants us to be able to trust in Him and remain faithful no matter what the world around us is doing.
So often, down through the years, I have heard Christians say that God is in control, placing leaders in and taking them out. They say they believe this until their candidate loses. Then they will not accept God's choice when it goes against what they want to happen. Then is when they begin to blame Christians as though we have influence through one vote.
Did they not remember that authentic believers are a small remnant compared to the rest of the voting population? We can't seem to have any influence within our own churches, let alone an entire rebellious culture.
We must speak the truth, and the ultimate response is up to those who hear; they are responsible for their own choices. We must have the faith to realize God is the one who works in the hearts of people and only if they repent. He will leave a rebellious culture to itself until it implodes and sees its need for Christ. Most will not see their need for Christ. Perhaps the fall of this government and the chaos from wicked leaders will make things miserable enough for people to see their need for Christ, then we should be ready with the gospel to show them the way of salvation.
John 9:31-32 " 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but He does listen to the one who worships Him and does His will. 32 Never before has anyone heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind."
Only Christ can open the blinded eyes of the unsaved; we can only speak of Christ to warn them, but they must trust in Him for their eyes to be opened.
There are more unbelievers in the church who claim to be Christians and are conservative who want nothing to do with Christ; they only want religion that makes them feel safe. This is the world we live in today. They want the government to lead them instead of Christ.
I wonder if those who blame Christians for the vote will also blame themselves for the total acceptance of divorce and remarriage within the churches?
Christ never commanded us to vote, but He did command us not to divorce and not to remarry after divorce. We have made the vote as though a command of God and negated His command about marriage. It is backward and upside down.
Nowhere in Scripture did God command believers to vote for their leaders; it is a choice. And, remember, there are sincere and dedicated Christians who cannot violate their conscience to vote for the lesser of the two evils just to get a better economy or secure borders.
Many church attendees are against abortion but have no conscience toward divorce and remarriage, and many of the other sins they accept as normal. They count abortion as the worst of all sins, but it is not the only sin, and just because it is the worst does not mean we should accept all the others. The worst of all sins is that of rejecting Christ!!!
Our influence over the culture ought to be for Christ, not a political system or particular leader. If the people loved Christ, there would be no need for laws.
Galatians 5:22-24 "…22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."
We think abortion is the worst of all sins, but the worst of all sins is rejecting Christ. Dominating a culture through legislation does not save souls; it never has and never will.
We need laws; they are to keep the lawless people from destroying others, but they do not lead anyone to Christ. Christians have been charged with preaching the gospel to the lost; they are not told to save governments. Their work in the gospel will influence people to come to Christ. Then the way they live their lives will influence others for Christ too; however, it is clear from Scripture that most will reject Christ and His followers.
God gave this country a choice at the beginning of the government system. When they chose to follow government instead of Christ He gave them what they wanted, that is to be governed by people instead of God.
Each believer must follow Christ no matter what the culture or the government is doing!
Please stop twisting Scripture to make it say we are responsible for the sins of others if we do not vote. Judging believers based on whether or not they vote is a sin.
I am grieved at how many prominent preachers and influencers chastise Christians for not voting while they have accepted many sins in the church that they refuse to address. I guess choosing not to vote, which God never commanded either way, is worse than violating all the other sins they practice that God forbade.
Wow, think about that!!!!!
