Denominations were birthed out of pride, rather than sitting down to a dialogue while searching the Word like the Bereans did, many started groups based on their favored beliefs, leaving much of the rest of the Bible behind. When we are cloistered in our preferred groups, we tend to focus on how "right" we are rather than seeking the Holy Spirit together for truth.
We see no denominations in the first century church! To "divide" rather than "search together" wi is willfulne...ss against God.
John 5:39 ""You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;"
2 Timothy 3:16 "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, "
Acts 17:11 "Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so."
2 Timothy 3:16 "And how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. "
Proverbs 30:5 "Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him."
Deuteronomy 12:32 "“Everything that I command you, you shall be careful to do. You shall not add to it or take from it."
Bottom Line: We should be seeking the Word and the Holy Spirit for truth, rather than a particular denomination that has one or two doctrines we like. So much of what has been taught the past 200 years is pattently unBiblical.
