Consequences of Rebellion

God gives rebellious people over to their hideous consequences when they refuse to ask Him for His guidance. Many people use God like a fairy god mother, they don't want His principles, they don't want instruction from His Word, they have elevated self to god status but when they get into difficulties in life they run to Him to bail them out.

Even as they are asking Him for help they show no honor or respect.

These same people will not listen to anyone who corrects them, nor ...do they honor or respect those who challenge them to greater holiness. Have you met other believers who are enraged when challenged to rethink what they believe or when we attempt to counsel them about something they are doing? These are stubborn souls who will see sad consequences of their rebellion, even life long devastating consequences.

God will not tolerate rebellion in the heart of a person who claims to be a Christian. He must discipline those who hold themselves up as the ultimate authority in their own lives.
Many apostates think they know it all, they have much knowledge about the Bible in their heads, but they fool themselves into thinking they are obeying God when in reality they are ignoring the passages they don't like and twisting things to fit what they want.

Proverbs 1:25-33
"25 And you neglected all my counsel And did not want my reproof;
26 I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your dread comes,
27 When your dread comes like a storm And your calamity comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
28 "Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me,
29 Because * they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD.
30 "They would not accept my counsel, They spurned all my reproof.
31 "So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way And be satiated with their own devices.
32 "For the waywardness of the naive will kill them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them.
33 "But he who listens to me shall live securely And will be at ease from the dread of evil."

One who loves the Lord loves to discuss His principles, they run to Him for everything in their life. These people love the people of God, desiring to be holy, they encourage others to be holy. Any counsel that comes their way they evaluate and love what is truth, able to see error and discard it easily.

Many pretenders are offended at any form of counsel that might make them rethink what they are doing or thinking.

Anyone who desires closeness to God must confess their stubbornness, repent, changing how they think, ready to obey God then God promises them this:

"But he who listens to me shall live securely and will be at ease from the dread of evil." Proverbs 1:33
