When Christ Forgave

When Christ forgave people He said, "you are forgiven", but in the account of Christ asking the Father to forgive them, He was appealing to the Father to extend forgiveness to the world, not the individuals who crucified Him.

Those who did the actual deed of placing Christ on the cross were no different from those who were just sinners, we all put Him on that cross.

Asking the Father to extend forgiveness to the world, when they repent, was the situation.

Christ never forgave the rich man who rejected Him. He never forgave Judas who betrayed Him, He never forgave the other thief on the cross who mocked Him. However, He did forgive the thief next to Him who expressed and confessed his own sinfulness.

Christ said to the thief who confessed, "this day you will be in paradise with Me."

Luke 23:39-43 "39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!”
40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!”
43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”"

Did we see that!!!! Christ never forgave the one thief who was not repentant, but He did forgive the one who confessed his sinfulness.
