Fighting Over a Mask is Ungodly

The local authorities cannot enforce the governor's mandates to wear a mask, its not a law. The governor does not have the power to make laws. Having said this I want to bring a Christian perspective to this matter of another loss of our freedoms.

I cannot see myself fighting with a shop owner over a mask. I will not fight with anyone over it. If I walk in without a mask and the shop owner insists upon it I will pull out my mask and probably wear it below my nose. LOL

In our town no one is worried about it, many people are not wearing masks including me most of the time. The authorities cannot and will not arrest anyone in our area for not wearing a mask.

Having said this I want to emphasize that our marching orders are to live out our Christianity in such a way that the little things are not a distraction to our witness. Fighting with a shop owner over a mask is a distraction.

There are people in our culture who are frightened about the virus and are offended when they see someone without a mask. For their sakes, I am careful not to offend.

This is what the devil wanted to do, cause people to fight with everyone. Even good-hearted kind people will be fighting over this mask thing causing more chaos in our culture. Don't be one who fights with people about a mask.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23
19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more.
20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though not being myself under the Law, so that I might win those who are under the Law;
21 to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law.
22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may, by all means, save some.
23 I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it."

A little chunk of cloth on the face could be a distraction so why not wear it. If you have a breathing problem then place it under the nose.

We know things are becoming outrageous. If anyone is arrested for wearing their mask the wrong way, and this will not happen but even if it did be sure to preach the gospel in that jail.

Defying everyone about a mask may make us feel superior but it detracts from the gospel. The only time I will refuse to please the authorities is if they order me to deny Christ or to sin.

Our Christian witness is far more important than our personal rights. I know many "American Christians" are going to be angry with me about this, but there it is! Just read God's admonition as written by Paul to become what we need to in society so as not to offend.

Verse 23 says it all, "I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become fellow partakers of it."
