Human Traditions or God's Commands

The Christians in America have allowed the culture to shape them into cultural Christianity. Rather than allowing the culture to change us into it, we should have been seeking God to be like Him.

When the believers become so much like the culture that they are indistinguishable from the culture around them except that they go to a church gathering on Sunday, other than that there is very little difference between them and the world.

This is the reason we have Christians arguing with one another over things when they should be agreeing and the Bible at the center of the discussion.

I see more "Christians" rejecting the truth of the Bible in favor of their favorite cultural wisdom that is not God's wisdom. They declare many things to be true that are against God claiming God winks at it.

2 Timothy 4:3 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they shall heap to themselves teachers in accordance with their own lusts."

The Christians of America are more cultural than they are Biblical. They spend more time on politics and pleasures than they defend the Word of God.

Jeremiah 23:16-18

"16 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, filling you with vain hopes. They speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord. 17 They say continually to those who despise the word of the Lord, ‘It shall be well with you’; and to everyone who stubbornly follows his own heart, they say, ‘No disaster shall come upon you.’”

8 For who among them has stood in the council of the Lord

to see and to hear his word,

or who has paid attention to his word and listened?"

This is the state of America, we have tossed aside the truth of the Word of God and His wisdom and discernment to be able to live a false Christianity of pleasures and happiness based on desires. When God's Word differs from the desires of this culture they modify His word to fit the culture or they ignore Him completely.

I have encountered more "Christians" hostile to correction with the Word of God than those who are excited to hear it. The "Christian culture" of our day is not Christian but based on psychology as well as the traditions of men.

Mark 7:12-14 "…12 he is no longer permitted to do anything for his father or mother. 13 Thus you nullify the word of God by the tradition you have handed down. And you do so in many such matters. 14 Once again Jesus called the crowd to Him and said, “All of you, listen to Me and understand:…"

If you desire to follow hard after Christ you will be asking Him about everything you do, "is it your will", or "please remove from my life all the things that are not Biblical." Then you will be truly free. Human traditions with God's name attached to them does not make them pleasing to God.
