We all have a past we are not proud of, if anyone says they do not then they need to become born again.
Romans 3:23
"23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
No one can claim to be better than anyone else. It is only Christ Who is perfect!
Since we are all sinners saved only by God's grace, we ought to have compassion for those who have not yet found Him. Rather than looking down our noses at those who are unsaved, we ought to weep over and pray for them.
In these last days, I am more likely to sharply rebuke a pretender who wants to believe they are saved without desiring to be changed by Christ on the inside. Those who know the truth but resist obedience are the ones in greater danger. It is harder to repent when someone thinks they don't need to do so.
Matthew 7:21-23
I Never Knew You
"21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’"
If you are a pretender thinking very highly of yourself, boasting about your own goodness, then you are in danger of hellfire. Repent today to become born again to escape that horrid fate.
Believers don't warn you to make you afraid, but to cause your fear to lead you to a place of safety.
Romans 2:3-5 "…3 So when you, O man, pass judgment on others, yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment? 4 Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance? 5 But because of your hard and unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.…"
2 Corinthians 7:9-10 "…9 And now I rejoice, not because you were made sorrowful, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. For you felt the sorrow that God had intended, and so were not harmed in any way by us. 10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. "
When we are made to feel bad through the realization that we are sinners in need of changing, this is a blessing, it brings eternal salvation. Believing on Christ is the only thing necessary, when we did that He changed us. We do not have the burden of changing ourselves, He does it all.
2 Corinthians 5:17
"17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come."
Ephesians 2:10
"10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."
Let Him change you, then the change will be real and it will be permanent.
Psalm 51:10
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."
