Changed by Christ or Attempting to Change Ourselves? Which Is It!

"Saying" we believe in Christ is far different from having believed Christ and wanting to be changed into a new creation by Him.
If there was no sense of shame over our sinfulness then there can be no salvation. Those who think they are saved because they were good enough, using their Christianity to be superior to others have never been born again.
Ephesians 2:10
"10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."
1 John 5:2-4
"2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith."
When Christ changes us we are the opposite of what we used to be before. We hate evil and love righteousness. If there is no change in someone when they say they "became a Christian", then it was something they thought they did, and they were never changed by Christ.
God said we would know our brothers and sisters by their fruit. If there is no fruit then those who do not have this fruit of the Holy Spirit are not our brothers and sisters no matter what they say.
Galatians 5:22-23
"22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
The fruit is not good works, it is the character qualities of the Holy Spirit that work in us. Because of this fruit, there will be a changed life and a continually changing life. We do not grow instantaneously, we are changed immediately but the growth is over time as the Holy Spirit shows us areas of weakness.
May those who are pretenders repent from their meaningless and useless words and may those who are born again who are stuck in lack of growth realize their need to confess their flaws and move on to greater holiness.
Hallelujah!!!!
