The antichrist spirit is not only in the antichrist but is in all those who refuse to consult with God. These people see themselves as the ultimate authority over everything in their lives. They will not seek Christ but are vulnerable to every wind of doctrine as well as human knowledge that they believe elevates them as special and superior.
When we become born again we lose that independent spirit. We love to exalt Christ rather than self.
Ephesians 4:14 "
"As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;"
The world and the devil are manipulating people to desire special status and popularity. Those who have been controlled by the devil are hypersensitive to correction, resisting any truth that exposes their error, and need to rethink and pray over a wrong attitude in their lives.
We cannot grow in holiness if we are stubborn. We cannot grow in holiness unless holiness becomes far more important to us than our feelings of superiority.
1 Peter 2
As Newborn Babes
1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,
2 and like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
3 if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.
As Living Stones
4 And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by people, but is choice and precious in the sight of God,
5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 For this is contained in [k]Scripture:
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a choice stone, a precious cornerstone,
And the one who believes in Him will not be put to shame.”
7 This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for unbelievers,
“A stone which the builders rejected,
This became the [n]chief cornerstone,”
8 and,
“A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”;
for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this they were also appointed."
