Opinions or Facts?

Far too many people are basing their opinions about events seen on the news on how they "want to feel" more than anything else.
It has been my experience in recent years that most people operate based on how they wish to believe things rather than on facts.
The internet is terrible for this judging based on feelings over small snippets of information without the facts.
Proverbs 18:12-13 "…12 Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor. 13 He who answers a matter before he hears it— this is folly and disgrace to him."
John 7:51
"Does our law convict a man without first hearing from him to determine what he has done?"
In our day of many lies and false opinions, it is better not to make judgments based on the news media or what strangers may claim. It is acceptable now in our culture to exaggerate to make a point or so many people seem to think.
Our culture acts as though it believes that as long as you believe you are right about something, exaggeration is acceptable.
I am here to tell you that exaggeration to cause people to view things our own way is sin. It is not alright to make up false facts or pretend something is true just because we might like the way it reads on paper.
We are a "feelings-oriented" people now, so many people react to events based on how they wish to feel and not on what really happened.
As born-again believers, we must not judge according to appearances without facts.
John 7:24 "24Stop judging by outward appearances, and start judging justly.”
Also, one last thing, it is not our business to judge the things we hear in the media. If we are chosen to sit on a jury and judge the fate of someone, then we are judging according to facts, not opinions based on short snippets of information.
Leviticus 19:15
“You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor."
