Those who think they have lived a good enough life to earn their way to heaven will not make it. It is only those who confess to God they are incapable of earning heaven and need the Savior Jesus Christ to cleanse them from sin and live in them, who will make it to heaven.
Far too many people who say they are "Christians" say they are saved by Gods grace alone but continue to live as though He does not exist. They are hanging on to their own works, believing they are good.
The day we realize we are sinners without hope in ourselves is the day we confess Jesus Christ is the only way.
We will all stand before the Lord alone without an excuse or a plea for ourselves. The only question we will be asked is if we have trusted in Jesus Christ, that alone is the only way.
Proverbs 3:5
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."
Psalm 37:4-6
"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday."
Jesus Christ is our only hope, as long as someone still hangs onto their own idea of their own goodness they will not see heaven.
Isaiah 64:6 "
"For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our wrongdoings, like the wind, take us away."
Romans 5:1-2 "5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God."
Trust only in Christ, not in self and not in anyone else.
