Living in a Wicked world while Our Heart is Desiring Home

When someone places their children above their spouse they are teaching the children to disrespect their other parent. It is a tactic of those who want to be loved by their children more than they love their spouse.
When adult children interfere in the marriages of their parents it is likely because one of the parents placed the children above the spouse and the children saw this as an endorsement to make judgments about the other parent as well as disrespecting the parents who is devalued by their spouse.
We live in a culture now that values personal aggrandizement above quality relationships. Divorces are rampant, and children are angry and disrespectful because of this selfishness.
2 Timothy 3 told us the intensity of the wicked attitudes that will prevail in the end times. We are living in those times right now. As long as we know it we can take less personally the attacks and angst that is all around us and focus on Christ Who lives in us.
2 Timothy 3:1-5
Difficult (ragingly insane) Times Will Come
3 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these."
If we were placed in a foreign country and discovered these attitudes and resentment toward us we would be observing without hurt feelings. We would not be devastated or emotional over it, we would simply document what we see knowing this was not our home.
This is the way we must live our lives now, we are in a foreign land, this world is not our home and nothing that happens here needs to destroy our faith or ruin our emotional stability.
Hebrews 13:14-16
"14 For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come.
God-pleasing Sacrifices
15 Through Him then, let’s continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips praising His name. 16 And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."
Our job here on earth is not to have friends, not to play, and not to build a fortune for ourselves. Our job here is to share the gospel, live as examples of Christlikeness to the world, and then when we go home we will go with the knowledge that we pleased God.
We are living in times when our closest godly friends are long distances away. God has provided Facebook to connect with those who love Him more than their own life. We share His Spirit and his goals as servants of Him. We can praise Him for these connections when we have no one in our own communities.
2 Timothy 2:24
"The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged,"
2 Corinthians 6:4
"but in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses,"
Psalm 113:1
"Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord."
Our reward is coming, let's focus on that. Let's not lament day after day, day in and day out, on the wickedness of this world, it is a distraction from Christ and our mission, which is to bring Christ to the lost.
