1. Indifference to God's Word: Ignore the Scriptures to follow your own ideas or the ideas of men.

Proverbs 28:14

"14 How blessed is the person who fears always,

But one who hardens his heart will fall into disaster."

2. Resistance to the Holy Spirit Conviction

Acts 7:51

51 “You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did."

3. Refusing to Forgive: Bitterness becomes a prison

Matthew 6:15

"15 But if you do not forgive other people, then your Father will not forgive your offenses."

4. Lack of Compassion: Do not assist others, only look out for themselves.

Matthew 9:36

"36 Seeing the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast, like sheep without a shepherd."

5. Pride and Self Sufficiency: Resisting humility in our own need for God in every aspect of our lives.

Proverbs 16:5

"5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord;

Be assured, he will not go unpunished."

Hebrews 3:15

"15 while it is said,

“Today if you hear His voice,

Do not harden your hearts, as when they provoked Me.”

Embrace God's Word, Yield to His conviction, forgive others and show compassion. and humble ourselves before the Savior.

A proud heart is deadly and rotten, God told us to resist the devil and he will flee. Those who do not repent will grow harder with every act of resistant.

Acts 3:19

"19 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;"

The cure for the hard heart is repentance, sorrow over sin and a desire to be changed by Christ.
