The narcissist is bent on creating drama that upsets their target, causing the born-again believer to act in ways that would displease God. This is the favored tactic of the devil.

"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
John 15:18-19
"If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first. / If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world."
When we must encounter mean and rude people we show them the respect they do not show us, but we do not remain friends with them. Our closest companions must be those who love Christ and foster good will in us as we do in them.
Those who love Christ are our family!
