Husbands and wives submit to one another as they submit to God. If either husband or wife wants their spouse to sin, then they must be corrected and not submit to that disobedience.
The Bible does not say that women must submit to their husband’s authority. Stop spreading this lie.
Ephesians 5 begins with a call for mutual submission in Christ. Verse 21 sets the foundation. Husbands and wives are called to serve and honor one another, not to establish dominance. You cannot skip this verse and still interpret the passage faithfully.
The word “head” (kephalē, v. 23) does not mean “boss.” It refers to source, origin, and life-giving responsibility, modeled by Christ, who gives Himself fully for the church. Any suggestion of hierarchy in the Trinity would be heretical. The Son is begotten of the Father, and the Spirit proceeds from the Father. Similarly, Eve being taken from Adam’s side points to relational origin, not authority. Husbands are called to love sacrificially, not to control.
Teaching that a wife must obey her husband unconditionally opens the door to abuse, coercion, and spiritual manipulation.
True marriage in Scripture is mutual, Christ-centered, and built on self-giving care, trust, and respect. It is never about fear, dominance, or hierarchy.
