Whine Less, Pray More

Somehow the Lord has laid it upon my heart to reflect on all the foolishness in our country today, people are "majoring on the minors and minoring on the majors."

Families are fighting over the silliest things, thinking they are important when believers all over the world are dying in brutal ways unimaginable to Westerners.

While we are defending our ball games, pleasures and rights, brothers and sisters in another part of the world have lost everything because they love Christ. Their children are being tortured in front of their eyes, while we whine about "the way someone spoke to us."

Perhaps it is time for us to seek that which is truly important, a relationship with Christ. When we see all these terrible things happening we are confident that God knows about them, we are comforted in knowing children go to be with the Lord and their parents who love Him meet them there.

The compassion in our hearts overflows when we hear the news of part of our family being treated with such contempt. However, once again we are comforted in knowing there is a special reward for those who must endure these things and that Christ gives them what they need at the time they need it, emotional and spiritual strength beyond human understanding. This is a prayer I repeat often for them, whenever they come to mind, which is often lately.

Perhaps if we could keep things according to the perspective of God's Word, we would praise Him more and think of ourselves less.
