Comfortable on Earth, Discomfort in the Next Life

So many people will not believe us or anyone because they are so comfortable on this earth. The freedom we have had has led people to hang onto this world with both hands. They have no desire or need to trust Christ because they believe they have all they want.

Even the mess of a life that they have does not seem like a mess to them. When self is all important the broken and bleeding family seems like a road block to personal pleasure.

There are too many excuses people use to justify their monstrous attitude and behaviors. They comfort themselves with their fantasy thinking while continuing down the slippy slide into wickedness.

Romans 1:21
"For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened."

The remedy for this pleasure seeking mentality is very simple. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and begin to ask Him to show us truth. We must be willing to leave behind all the wrong things our families and the culture taught us to embrace the truth of God's Word.

James 1:22-25
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing."

There is no liberty in a sinful lifestyle, it is full of terrible consequences and pitfalls. True liberty comes when we are free from the sinful pleasures and lifestyles.

Psalm 119:1-176
"Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! ..."
