The desire to dominate others causes the narcissist to wrongly judge many things. Because they believe they know everything they will take a small bit of information and make it mean what they desire for it to mean. They cannot be objective and they never listen to the whole truth.
Narcissists have a tendency to judge those who do not think just like them. If you do not say the things they say, go the places they go, see the people they like or dress in a way they decide is "classy", then you are a target for special contemptuous treatment.
If you want to be an authentic you, based on your own beliefs, then you must ignore the silly antics of the manipulative narcissist. These people have an elevated view of their own importance that is not warranted. They use this personal view of themselves to judge the inadequacy of those that do not measure up to their idea of perfection.
God made each of us in His image and with separate and distinct personalities. No one must march to the drummer of the narcissist. We are free to be who we are in Christ.
When a narcissist begins to make rules for others and then treat them contemptuously because someone does not obey their rules, then we are free to ignore them. We are even free to remove them from our lives if they persist in ill treatment and disrespect toward us.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 " 3 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of ood,4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
This description of the end times attitudes are a description of the church. Yes, believe it or not there are more unbelievers within the church that there are authentic believers. Notice these verses in Timothy say these people "have a form of religion but deny its power." They will say they believe in God, go to church every week but their heart does not love God.
If they loved God they would love others. The narcissists only aim is to always remain superior, full of self love and contempt for others they forge a path of destruction in all of their relationships. If they cannot destroy others by dominating them they will lie against them to others or ruin anything they attempt to accomplish. They will have no part of anyone who shines brighter than they believe they do.
Pharisees make rules for people that God never made because they like the control they have over others through intimidation, manipulation and mocking. When we see this happening we can politely dismiss ourselves and keep our distance.
Luke 16:14-15 "14 The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all of this and were scoffing at Jesus. 15 So He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is prized among men is detestable before God."
John 12:42-44 "42 Nevertheless, many of the leaders believed in Him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue. 43 For they loved praise from men more than praise from God. 44Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in Me does not believe in Me alone, but in the One who sent Me.…"
Matthew 23:4-6 "…4 They tie up heavy, burdensome loads and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. 5 All their deeds are done formen to see. They broaden their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels. 6 They love the places of honor at banquets, the chief seats in the synagogues,…"
The video in the link below is a good explanation of our options when dealing with mean spirited judgmental narcissists who care only about being superior and dominant over others.
All of our decisions must be made based on the Bible, not anyone else's ideas. Man will attempt to oppress others, but God allows us to know truth and follow that without intimidation. When we love God we love His ways, it is irrelevant to us if someone else is "doing it perfectly", we leave room for variations of actions within the principles of God's Word. Not violations of His word, but various ways within His principles.
