One Cannot Walk Away From That Which They Never Had

Josh Harris who says he walked away from his faith, did not walk away from Jesus Christ. We cannot walk away from something we never had in the first place.

This man was a pretenders who had a cultural Christianity based on formulas but never had a born again experience.

Many "Christians" today have some right words, a decent lifestyle that others can see that appear to be righteous, but inside they have never been born again.

A Christianity of formulas is no Christianity at all. When we were born again we were no longer following rules we were in love with Christ Who guides us into holiness on the deepest spiritual level that a pretender can never know.

A Christianity based on the rules is self based faith and not Christ focused. These people are often self righteous, judgmental about things they know nothing of, seeking to appear better than others to maintain an image. These people do not stay focused on Christ but on self and their own accomplishments or what they think are accomplishments.

There are always clues that discerning believer notice that indicate pride and personal aggrandizement in those who have a culturally based Christianity. In my experience those who fall big usually had some indication that they were on the wrong path before the big fall.

Matthew 7:15-20
A Tree and Its Fruit
15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
16 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?
17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 So then, you will know them by their fruits."
