If you are a born-again believer you will experience non-believers who are identified in 2 Timothy three, who will accuse us of doing the very things they are doing and we are not. This is a favored tactic of the devil.
Another tactic of the devil and those who are influenced by him is to accuse us of past forgiven sins while treating us contemptuously and disrespectfully.
Gossip is one more tactic to place doubt in the minds of others about us.
Every one of these tactics and more have been employed to discredit the believer, disgrace us, and even intimidate us into silence. Do not pay attention to the feelings that may occur because of these injustices and before you realize it you won't even feel anything about the attacks anymore. I have become able to see them as humorous because they are so petty and silly.
When we depend on Christ and have no regard for those who hate Him we no longer view the attacks as personal, they are outside of us not associated with us. The devil is doing these things to everyone who loves Christ, we are not special we get to experience them too.
1 Peter 5:7-9 "…7 Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.…"
If we resist the devil using the Word of God standing firmly on its foundation we will only become stronger with each new attack.
James 1:2-8 "2 Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For that person ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,
8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways."
When we can endure disrespect and unjust treatment and still maintain the joy in us we can count ourselves as blessed.
