Those who are pretenders do not feel conviction from the Holy Spirit because they are not born of God. They excuse their bad behavior because they have no connection with Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:14 " The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned."
Hebrews 12:5-7 "…5 And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not take lightly the discipline of the Lord, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you. 6 For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastises every son He receives.” 7 Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?…"
1 John 3:9 "No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God".
The reason we become confused about salvation in our culture is that we have been trained to believe words that people say, no matter what their actions look like.
I have been told I cannot know the heart of a person who is sinning on many occasions but this is incorrect. The Holy Spirit in me has disclosed to me the heart of a person through His Word.
He said that we can know them by their fruit.
Matthew 7:15-20
You Will Know Them by Their Fruit
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them."
Righteous people do not defend a lifestyle of sin; they hate sin and confess it to be cleansed when they have been weak and succumbed to the temptations of the devil or their own flesh.
1 John 2:1 "1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father— Jesus Christ, the Righteous One."
1 John 1:9
"9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Romans 8:34
"Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us."
Unsaved people do not have an advocate with the Father; they are on their own, unable to understand the ways of God.
When the unsaved attend church gatherings, they tend to misinterpret many things because they have not been changed by Christ and cannot understand Him or His ways. They interpret Scripture according to their own mindset and their desired cultural ways.
Many false doctrines have entered the church buildings today, brought in by those who want the safety of God but do not love Him. They want His perks and blessings but they do not want Him. We know this by their resistance to truth and correction from the Word.
Christ is called "The Word", to negate His Word, the Bible is to negate Him.
We see a lot of this in these end times when there is only a remnant of believers left on the earth compared to the population of the world. Satan is working feverishly to undermine God and His children.
Keep looking up, brothers and sisters, it is almost over, and then we can rest.
