Deuteronomy 6:6-8 "…6 These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads."
God commanded parents to teach and train their own children. Passing this task off to non-family caused the children to place their trust in those who spent the most time with them. It began the great divide between children and parents.

The mentality that we cannot teach one another slopped over into the church gatherings, that specially trained men had to teach everyone else.
Hebrews 3:13 "But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness."
Fathers and Mothers were to be the teachers of their own children in everything. Both Father and Mother were to be respected and honored.
Proverbs 1:8-9 "Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother. 9 For they are a garland of grace on your head and a pendant around your neck."
