Many Years of Marriage

Today my husband and I celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary.

Interesting how it works, we still feel 35 on the inside but our physical stature has changed a great deal since that day we got married. Thankfully as the outside began to falter, our hair turned gray and our limbs are more feeble than so many years ago, our spiritual well being has increased much more than any blessing of health or wealth.

We were engaged when I was 16 and my husband was 20. We were both very religious but not walking with Christ. Now we walk with Christ and are no longer "religious", our love is far different from the days when love was all about appearances and personal enjoyment, the love we share now is because of Christ, not only about ourselves. Our joy is always there even through the hard things, our hope never leaves either, there is always God's comfort within us.

So many people wish they could be young again, We would never want to be what we were then, there was nothing back there that we miss.

When we gain wisdom, very little else of this world entices us, in fact, just being fed, clothed and in a warm house is enough. Adventures are over, they are no longer needed as they once were when we were young and thought they held anything for us.

We look back on the adventures, barely able to remember what they felt like, but we look to the wisdom we gained, we will never forget that, It carry us through to eternity with greater hope in the future than any past adventure could ever afford.

Forgetting the past, forgetting the adventures, but never forgetting the wisdom that came from God and changed us into a new creation while growing us into Spiritual beings trapped in this physical body, that one day we will be delivered from, even having a new one.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."
