Whom Do We Obey?

We have been rejected by family members for not attending the weddings of remarriages or wedding showers of remarriages of family members. The freedom we have in Christ not to have to cave into the demands of the culture, following their sin, to be able to be accepted by them, is far greater than any acceptance of man we think we need.

There are many people who are angered when they see that we will not endorse divorce and remarriage. Even though God clearly says that remarriage is adultery, the culture has embraced and defended remarriage as legitimate, but it is not only not legitimate, it is a sin against God and a sin against the person the divorced individual is marrying.

When someone divorces and remarries they are helping their new partner to commit a sin, they not only are accountable for their own sin in it, they are accountable for making their brother or sister fall into sin.

Divorced people are commanded to remain single or be reconciled to their spouse, it's not a suggestion to be ignored, it is a command from God.

1 Corinthians 7:10-11 "…10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11 But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband."

God commanded a divorced person to remain single or be reconciled because the "shall become one" bond is not severed by divorce, God used a spiritual glue to bind two people in marriage it cannot be severed by a piece of paper by the law of the land, it is only severed by death.

1 Corinthians 7:39 " 39 A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, as long as he belongs to the Lord."
