Proverbs 14:15-16 "15 The simple man believes every word, but the prudent man watches his steps. 16 A wise man fears and turns from evil, but a fool is careless and reckless.…"
We are living in the days of intense and constant deception. These are the conditions of the days right before Christ takes out His church.
If something we see or hear has nothing to do with our walk with Christ and does not pertain to us, we must leave it alone. So many people are looking for articles and videos on the internet for things they like to believe, causing fear and discontent in them that do not glorify Christ.
Ephesians 5:15-17
Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, / redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is."
God never told us to search for the bad to be able to know it. My question is, "Why would I want to know something that I can't change and has nothing to do with me?"
God placed us each in our own corner of the world to do what He wants us to do; this is where we need to focus. Not information just to know stuff, but remain absorbed in the gospel and living out our walk with Christ in our own communities.
I like to pursue the web for news of Israel because it pertains to prophecy, even then I have to be led by the Holy Spirit on what to believe. God gave us the end times situations and events outlined in the Bible to show us that we can believe the Bible. It is helpful in witnessing Christ to those who see all these things but don't know why is happening.
Personally, I don't want my head filled with garbage that only sticks there when I don't want to have filthy thoughts about the goings on in the world.
Proverbs 4:23: "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.".
The ugly problems of the world stick like glue in our heads, causing fear and resentment. Filling our minds with filth just to know about it is a form of gossip.
Matthew 10:16
"Behold, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves."
Ephesians 5:10-12 "…10 Test and prove what pleases the Lord. 11 Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret."
If it is shameful to even mention the details of evil in the world, then we ought to abstain from them. We can't avoid knowing some things because others talk about them, but we can refrain from looking for them on the internet.
Our calling is the gospel and living quiet lives; the witness of our peace and kindness will say volumes to those who see a world falling apart while we remain steady and calm.
My goal is to encourage believers and bring the gospel to unbelievers. When they bring up the ugly things of the world, I will be able to bring their mind back to Christ and His purpose in everything. Then perhaps they will see the need to trust in Him. Agreeing with the unbeliever about the ugliness of the world won't get them to heaven. However, showing them Christ and His Word is the way we communicate hope to the unbeliever.
If Christ is our continual focus, the world will not be, it's passing away, but believers are on their way to heaven, ready to go home, but before they do, they can obey God in expressing the hope of salvation through faith in Christ before we go.
