They Dig for Information but not for Our Good

Narcissists are interested in what is going on in your life to gather data to have something to gossip about. They are nosy asking things most people don't bother to ask about.
I have had family members do this! I know it is data gathering because they show no interest in me otherwise. They call once in a while to ask questions but have no comments when you answer them.
When we ask the narcissit questions to see how they are doing they don't share anything with you. They believe you will gossip about them the way they gossip about us.
Beware of those who lack empathy and interest in anything having to do with us but want to have information about us. They are fake nice people who like knowing things to be able to formulate their own prejudices against us. They dislike having to make up total lies, they travel in half-truths to make themselves feel better about their gossip.
When we discover someone is like this it is better to avoid them. They are not our friends and will only attempt to ruin our human relationships as well as our relationship with Christ.
We might say these gossip mongers and information gatherers are full of hate toward us, they are not companions who will engage with us in our walk with Christ. In fact, they often will demean our walk, mock truth and attempt to make us appear foolish.
These people are described in 2 Timothy 3. They pretend to be "Christians" but never utter the name of Jesus Christ. These people will be "conservative in their politics" but brash and unloving in their brand of Christianity. They do not follow Christ, they pretend to be "Bible believers" but add and subtract from His Word at will.
2 Timothy 3:1-5
Difficult Times Will Come
"3 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5 holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these."
